Connected/Mobility Application Solution of the Year, New Tech Solution of the Year and Software Innovation Solution of the Year.
After extensive customer research, Coop Denmark worked with Omnico to develop and deploy two major new initiatives – a mobile loyalty app and a self-scan and mobile payment app. As recent winners of Best Engagement & Loyalty Scheme at the Retail Systems Awards and Mobile Pioneer at the RetailWeek TECH Awards, these solutions are already being recognised as best-in-class.
Kraen Nielsen Østergård, Chief Technology Officer, Coop Denmark said of the self-scan and mobile payment solution: “We are very excited and confident in the mobile payment app. It’s a more realistic version of Amazon Go, as it provides the same core benefits, but at much lower costs”.
The self-scan and mobile payment app enables customers to scan a product once using the app on their mobile phone, then skip the till queue by paying automatically through their device. It allows payment via an e-wallet and utilises Omnico’s omniBasket software to enable payment at the till via the customer’s device, which is linked directly to the customer’s dividend, bonus wallet, or credit / debit card. Electronic e-receipts are then available to the customer in near-real time within the app, along with their loyalty bonus points. This gives Coop the opportunity to extend shopping hours in more remote locations where the demand is not high enough to warrant the cost of a fully staffed store.
Coop also delivered a new mobile loyalty and promotions app across their 1,200 stores, using Omnico’s omniEngage loyalty and promotions engine to provide fulfilment, convenience and personalisation at every touch-point to meet their customers’ requirements. It allows real-time customer bonus point calculations as well as personalised promotional activities that can be delivered centrally, or used by local store managers to deliver offers and information specific to their store. Promotion discounts are delivered direct to the customer via the mobile solution, which is hosted in the Omnico Cloud.
